30 Years after the Fall of the Berlin Wall: Recollections and Reflections on the Cold War
Come hear Dr. Christiane Warren, adjunct lecturer in History, as she speaks about the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Dr. Warren served as a civilian translator, attached to the 5/502nd Infantry Battalion of the U.S Army Berlin Brigade during the final years of the Cold War. She also spent part of her early years with relatives on both sides of the Iron Curtain during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Having earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in history, Dr. Warren is in the unique position to offer a three-dimensional perspective of the Cold War and life in Berlin during Allied occupation with the historical analysis of both the eye-witness and the academic. Please join her as she presents an in-depth talk on everyday life in Cold War Berlin with many unknown insights and personal pictures, along with reflections on its relevance to the current search for an American national identity.
